Queer Pop-Up Museum

Pop-up Soho

August 6th – 25th, 2011

Opening Reception: Saturday, August 6 · 6:30pm - 9:30pm

The Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation
26 Wooster Street, NYC

The Pop-Up Museum of Queer History is a grassroots organization that transforms spaces into temporary installations celebrating the rich, long, and largely unknown histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. We believe that our community – and especially our youth – deserve to know our history. If you don’t know you have a past, how can you believe you have a future?

The Pop-Up Soho exhibition spans twelve centuries and three continents, as interpreted by over thirty artists, archivists, and academics. This show is presented with The Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation, and is cosponsored by the Center for Lesbian And Gay Studies at CUNY.

Pop-Up Soho will host a number of events, including movie screenings, a music recital, an evening of performances, workshops and two original plays. Click here for a full schedule of events.
